Default Walking path

I'm attempting to experiment in black and white photography using the wide-lens setting on my camera. Today I went on a walk on a local green-way, and took this photo.

Canon Powershot s5 is
f/3.5
1/40
iso: 80
focal length: 6.0 mm

I like it!! The way the walkway bends around a corner gives off a feeling of mystery and makes me curious as to what's around the bend!!

I like the composition of the shot it gives a feel of whats around you and directs you into the shot.

The only thing I would say is it feels like theres needs to be more contrast between the tones in the picture.

Did you take this black and white shot in camera, or did you convert from colour?

Thanks. I took it in black and white shot in the camera, and didn't do any post processing. I was happy with the composition of most, but they just seemed to lack a little extra "pop" when it came to contrast. I don't know if it's just the limitations of the camera, or if I could have done something else. Any thoughts?

You could boost the contrast in PP.

Just a suggestion.

Yeah. But is there any way to do that just with the camera?
