Default Scorpions at night

Took a bulb exposure for 8 seconds under black light to make the scorpions florese

Not a great shot, its hard to contain 4 very active scorpions, but neat all the same, will work on some more ideas

Cool shots crawler. Kinda looks like some of the black light posters I used to hang on my wall when I was a kid.

Very Nice, I especially like the 1st one. Interesting subjects. If I still lived in Arizona, I'd give this a try myself!! Scorpians = Adventurous Macro Opportunities!!!

Thanks for sharing these
Michael.

^ thanks for the comment, please be careful with the scorps in Arizona some are very dangerous. They do not know why they glow in black light, its a oddity of the cuticle covering them.

These ones are Hetermetrus spinifer, Asian Forest Scorpions and are harmless.

I used a small cup to capture 4 of mine, then as I squeezed the bulb I lifted the cup

You can get portable black lights for outdoor work, if you need to catch them, use a padded tip forceps and lift them by the stinger, this does not harm them at all.

In regular light
