Arrow My 400 : Don't tell my mom I was there...

For my 400th post i wanted something special
so I came with the idea of sharing some old photos never shared before.
So I chose some photos from my craziest trips of 2007,
started in the mid of 2007 with the monsoon then went on till December that year.
I did so many things for the first time that year,
got my Royal Enfield 350 std & then learnt how to ride it ;-) ,
went on long rides, did endless rain treks,
did some rappelling and valley crossings for the first time,
shot a lot of photos with others' cameras ;-) ,
fried my PDA and a camera on one of the treks and still continued...
it probably was the best time i had... crazy days...
still remember them. Here are some memories from some of those trips

This is my first rappelling in a water fall at Malshej ghat near Mumbai,
1200 ft in 3 legs (600',350',250') 2 days about 150 people.
No prior experience what so ever, 15 minutes briefing and i was dropped 600' .
It was winter so there was very less water falling.

My second rappelling trek in Duke's Nose, Lonavala between Mumbai and Pune with about 120 people. After 3 hrs of riding on my bullet half hour climb from base then 350' rappel down the rope followed by a ledge walking on ledge that was 9 inches wide in some places then climb up again and 450' high speed Valley crossing back to the base in 5 seconds.

This is the monsoon hike where my PDA got fried in the rain. Place called 'Peb' near Mumbai with 2 of my lunatic friends, about 4hrs hike up the hill to a cave at the top and rested for a while, warmed up and back down before dark. it was heaven up there in monsoon.

One more trek with huge group that went very very bad due to heavy rain. This was a Independence day special, place called Alanghad near Mumbai. About 90 people 2 days, one of my scariest trips ever. I wasn't really scared that day but when i look back at it yes it could have gone real bad. We were divided in 3 groups going 3 different direction one of the groups to return on the same evening. I was supposed reach the top of left side rock in the first photo after 8 hours of climbing drenching in the rain we hit a dead end as seen in photo in left bottom(i cant imagine we actually walked that curve). We were in the clouds and visibility was less than 5 ft we tried to return but could not. We were extremely lucky we saw a rock that had broken and about 25 people stuffed themselves in the crack, there was only space lie down, saved us from a rain that felt like a cloud burst. we were all so tired we could not even move, next day morning we were all fresh, hoisted the flag started climbing down and the rain started again turning our trial into a river we did not know what we were stepping on at the same time we had to resist the force of the water. There were a lot of mishaps all the way but nothing too serious. When we reached the base camp found the other 2 groups also could not finish their treks and returned on the night before as they could not find any shelter and they were praying we return safe as all means of communication was lost in the rain. One hell of an experience, scares me when i think of it but at the same time makes me proud.

So Don't tell my mom I was there....

Thanks Angela. I put them in to frames as they were not of great quality, they were my best photos back then. And also I could not pick one from every trip

That album is full of such shots taken in mist, it was simply awesome to look the world around from top in the mist not to mention there was tiny aquarium inside the camera after the trip

Great choice of shots AC. It reminds me of my much younger days. I've done some climbing, a lot of search and rescue. I don't have any pictures though... oh well. A 600' rappel is a pretty good leg. At any rate, great presentation and some wonderful images.
