Hi Everyone,
new member here and appreciate a friendly place to come and share some photos. Some of you may be aware that the Midwest received our first major snowstorm of the season. That brought about a lot of photo opportunities. Would like to share a few of these with you as a way of introduction.

Lovely shots. I see in the first one that some birds left it a bit late to head south! Welcome to DPS and thanks for sharing these shots. More, more!

Thank you for the very warm welcome. I see some outstanding talents here on this board. Just incredible. It is most humbling

Really wanting to go back outside this evening and do some more Christmas light displays, but it is well below zero and no takers in this household. But that is something I've really enjoyed photographing. Anyway, love the quality of photographs here. And thanks, again, for the warm welcome.

Welcome and it sure looks beautiful and cold! We in Ky somehow missed this storm...it went 200-300 miles north of us. We had enough cold rain to have given us a bumper crop of snow!

I can send some down to you, if you'd like. We have plenty to go around.

Athena, Welcome to DPS. these are excellent images. I like the birds taking off in your first, the second has the feel of a painting, and your third is really soothing and calming.

Thank you Mike. I was trying for the painterly effect and my photographer friend said the same thing on his critique of these shots. So nice to have confirmation on achieving that.

I am so excited to continue along my photography journey. Photography is just amazing to me and has made me so much more aware of my surroundings. One of the first things my friend taught me was to 'look for the light' and that is something I find myself doing all the time now. The world is such a beautiful place and I take great joy in my meager attempts at capturing it.

I have a new wide angle lens coming today; 17-40mm f/4L USM Lens. What fun.

KGB, I know this is slightly off topic, but I noticed you are from SA. During my travel journeys I was very fortunate to visit SA in Oct 08. I was along the Garden Route between CT and Johannesburg. Very beautiful country and equally beautiful people. It was a privilege to be there.
