Default I went for a little road trip

Another week of 40º + heat and I am going insane, so my daughter had to go to a neighboring town to deliver something so I thought, might as well sit in an air-conditioned car for a while.
The heat does nothing for the happiness of young children, they were not happy they wanted to play on the swing but I think that would have caused 3rd degree burns.

A trip to Mitchell-1

on the way, there and back, we had to stop for road works, the Australian country-side during a heat wave.

A trip to Mitchell-2

we saw lots of emus standing in the shade of trees, this one was there on the way out and was still there on the way back, but moved the minute I got out of the car to take his photo. Silly bird.

A trip to Mitchell-4

now this fellow I don't know whether to give him my sympathies or send him to the asylum for counseling. The air temperature was 43º the temperature in the direct sun was unbearable, and the heat coming from the newly laid pavement would have been around the 65ºc and he has a peak cap and shorts on. I just don't think the day could have ended well for him.

A trip to Mitchell-3

Thankyou for looking and listening.

Hi Michele
I have no idea how you cope with 40c heat, here in England it gets too hot for me in summertime & we are lucky if we hit 30c.
Love the expression on the kids faces on the 1st one, they look proper cheesed off with it.
Hope it cools for you soon.

Thanks Glyn, I'm really only just having a whinge, but the heat has been constant day after day and it seems to suck the energy out of you, and nothing gets done.

Those are great captures. The kids expressions say it all. I liked the last one too of the poor worker. So being that I am from the states, and we for whatever reason to not use celsius, just how hot is 40 in farenheit?

Thankyou pamella, 40ºc =104ºf . 43ºc which was the air temperature when I took the photo of the stop-go man was 109.4ºf but having the direct sun and the heat radiating from the pavement whould have made it a lot hotter for him.

Oh Michele... their faces are just classic! They really do not look too happy. I don't blame them though... I would look the same way if it was that hot here.
That poor guy too.. I hope he didn't dehydrate being out there in the heat!
Great shots... TFS!

Yikes, Michele! I had to check google for a centigrade to farenheit converter to appreciate how hot it is there, and it is indeed hot on the Arizona scale! What a great set -- I love the photo of the two unhappy little ones, also the emu leaving the shade. It's actually kind of nice to be reminded of what heat feels like during such chilly days here. I wish you tall, icy cold drinks of something wonderful!

It is 16 degrees and very windy here, so I don't think the children would be any happier here. But they sure look adorable. Makes me want to send them an ice cream cone to cheer them up. Thanks for sharing.

I know it sounds strange, but give me the heat any day over the cold....I HATE cold! You do look very very dry there....are you having any fire breakouts?
