Hello everyone, this is the 3rd set in the series, as we left off in the last set, Eleanor had regained her confidence and did quite well in the Vauling event with a very good score.
This time it's Amanda's turn, Eleanor might have gotten herself back on track, But Amanda is a bit more advanced, almost ready for level 7.. and she's much quicker and much more relaxed and graceful... Both her parents are deaf, and she stays with her grandparents most of the time. Charlie tells me she deals with so much out of the gym, that for her it's a place to get away from a not so normal childhood. And she's tough, strong and fast, but almost always has a smile. Here she leaves the spring board, she ran so fast down the runway I was afriad I'd miss the whole vault...not very clear because of her speed... but look at her Form .. body straight, feet almost touching eachother and arms raising for the push off the horse. ![]() she's now committed to the vault and is preparing for the contact.. Her feet are now together, her whole body is lined up in the middle of the horse and she's coiling her hips to spring off . ![]() and now she's pushing off and bringing the hips around to uncoil her feet ahead and rotate off the horse. She's a little off line and tilted a little to our left. a minor points deduction ![]() She extends her whole body and soars, if you line her up with the middle of the horse, she is slightly off line from her push off , she has good form, but it affected her landing and she took a hop and a step ... more points deductions ![]() She didn't get a handshake or a" gimme me some skin, slap me five" from Charlie, I couldn't hear him talking to her, but I can guess he told her she can do much better and will be working on it in the gym. Amanda can take being pushed, Eleanor can not take too much criticism. That's what really impresses me the most about my Brother, each kid is different and he's personable with all of them, but still has to be the coach, and get them to be the best they can be. I have one more set of the meet comming and you will see that Charlie's gentle touch with Eleanor and pushing Amanda harder did not affect them at the end. Stay tuned for the final set and thanks for taking a look and reading all the text. Vin

Nice set. I did gymnastics many many many eons ago. I quit half way through going for my gold badge due to the nasty teenager instructors. Anyway, love this set of pics. Well done. TFS.

Thanks for sharing, Vin. It takes great skill from a coach to know who he can push and who needs a different approach. That's one of the things the separates the greats from the so-so. Your brother seems very dedicated to his craft. Looking forward to seeing the next installment

Thank you 3 out of the 100 who viewed and who left a comment. I would be curious to see how well someone does with a F4 lense in a dimmly lit gym shooting fast moving targets, good luck. I guess I'm a bit over sensitive and shouldn't take it it so personal, but I can't help it. Vin

When this thread popped up on my screen, I said "oh, goody!" out loud! And I wasn't disappointed -- another great set, Vin, and I love your gymnastics commentary. What a challenge to photograph! That last mid-air capture is especially amazing to me. Looking forward to the next installment!
