Default ReCoRdInG KiNg GuItArS GiMmE KiTsCh!!

My mate Dann runs a music store on the Cowley Rd here in Oxford, so i often get in there a few times a week. I was surprised to find these colourful chaps hiding in a corner at the back. They are made of plastic, play like crap and made in China -perfect Kitsch and we love a bit of that dont we??
I'm tempted to buy one and learn some gunfighter ballads, just like Marty Robbins,or even howl out a Hank Williams number, now wouldnt i be the business lol!!
ya'll come back now

Marty Robbins? Oh, man, that hits me right in the solar plexus. I read that name and I can hear my dad whistling "El Paso." Your third photo must be a rendering of Felina, you know, "blacker than night were the eyes of Felina, wicked and evil while casting her spell." Like you, I adore this kind of kitsch. I went to High School in Tombstone, Arizona. These images are like the ones the "town too tough to die!" was always trying to portray. My dad was a very sweet man. Thanks for the memory.

Let me see if I've got this right. Made in China guitars, featuring American Wild West scenes, being sold in a music store in Oxford. I guess that makes perfect sense! Kidding aside, great photos! Thanks for sharing them!

Think I will stick with my D 28 Marquis:

Or "LILLIE BELLE" , one of the last Martin Banjo's made in the USA by Vega:
Named after a great Aunt.

I only wish I could do them justice.
