Default Lens Envy

and I turned to talk to the guy snapping beside me and...

50-500

He was really cool and we chatted for 15 minutes ..

keep cool

so I went off to try some stills, I think this may be Aveleno Gomez

Avaleno

And I know this is Northern Dancer AKA Big Red .. I went to his last race - 1973!

Big Red

Good set Ian, I think Micheal ( Chewy's Dad ) has that lense 50-500m , it's pretty cool, but very heavy and you'd find out that long reach is alot more limiting then it would seem, the tigher and longer, the more light is needed and you have to be perfectly steady beyond 250-300 or it'll blur.

Put your new Sony thru it's paces, get the most out your lense for a while, when you need a new one, you'll know. ( my experiance and humble advice ). lately I been using my 18-55 kit lense and my 70-200m more then anything else.

I really like the Statue of the Jockey, lining up the verticle poles on either side works really well to frame him ... great eye !

The horse has a great background and I really like how you have his eye on the 1/3 up and 1/3 right line ... excellent use of the rule. Good exposure too, dispite the horse being so dark, you got details of his mane and muscles.

Great set Buddy ,

Vin

Nice set Ian, but as the saying goes, its not the size of the lens, but how well you use it. LOL
