Default First Snow of the Season

Last night we had our first measurable snowstorm here, so bright and early I went out wandering around our yard to see what I could shoot. I had several revelations while I was doing this. First, was that my 75mm, with a 36mm tube on it, takes some decent enough macro shots (first time I used it for this), a star filter can add some really nice effects, until you drop it in the snow and continue to use it while it has snow and melted water drops on it, shooting into the sun can yield some great results and my biggest realization of the morning was, that while the snow is pretty and I got some decent enough shots, that it is infinitely more pleasurable (and way warmer) to wander around my yard in the spring, summer and fall to shoot flowers, insects, water drops etc..... According to the massive number of pine cones and acorns produced this year, we are in for a nasty, long, extremely snowy winter. I'm good now, seen it, wandered in it, threw a snowball ... yeah I'm ready for spring.

After that long editorial ... here's a few of what I snapped this morning,

ice 4

ice 2

I like no.3 - it gives a feel for the detail and there are a few points of interest that kept me looking at the photo for a while longer than I do most. Nice ones.

Hey Vin, I miss hanging out around here too! You know how life gets. FIgured i better head out for this first storm, it is only going to be fun for me once or twice, then it is going to get old FAST!! Believe me I keep the camera securely around my neck in less then ideal conditions. I do not want to be replacing that any time soon!!!

Thank You Hayward ! I just got that star filter a week ago, so far I love having it in the arsenal.
