Arrow Noah's Ark - Internals

Hi,

These are some shots taken at Mandvi where ships are built. Wooden ships.

Each ship takes about 2 - 3 years to build.

These photos were taken from inside of the ship.

They dont use any hightec machinery but only use basic tools like hammer, saw, drill, pully and chain for lifting logs etc.

We went there early morning at 7am just when the sun was rising. People/Workers were still having their cup of chai (Indian tea) when we were taking this photo. Their shift started at 8am and they were very happy to chat with us.

And this is a huge ship that was being built. The first photo is a panorama stitched from 10 images.

And these are us trying to pose in front of the huge ship. Just look at the main log on which the entire ship is built. It is half the size of Moonish (our son)

Cool shots, I especially like the 4th one of the man drinking his chai. A very interesting insight, TFS.

Great to see traditional skills and craftsmanship still alive and well. Thanks for posting these Dharmit.

Default Great shots.

Love the "fish eye" of the overall structure. These are wonderful shots. Thanks for sharing "Noah's Arc".

I am glad everyone liked it.

I was on a photography tour with my Uncle-In-Law and he mentioned that taking human/people along with the structure, architecture etc will give a sense of life, perspective and warmth to the photo.

I hope I am proving to him that this student of his has taken his advise on-board (literally).

I was amazed to see it too. After living for more than 5 years in Australia, I tend to think that everything is built by huge machines only, especially huge ships like these, but I was proved wrong in my own mother land.

Now that you mentioned, yes it is a good fish eye image. Sorry but I am not too much in fish eye photography and would not know if the image was one, but sure I liked the photo.

Very interesting Post! Well photographed and presented. It must have been wonderful to be able to watch the process and speak to the workers.
Thank You for Sharing these

I checked my hard disk to see if I have any shots of finished boat, but could not find it. Then I thought, if the boat would be finished, they would like to see it sail as they have given 2-3 years of their life in building it and would like to get rewards for it, isnt it?
