Default Robson Street

I saw these grainy hhigh ISO shots, and thought, "Do I dare take a chance and post these?" The first was shot at 800 ISO, and the last threee at 3200 ISO. Yikes! It was a fun night on Robson Street, and we were enjoying some special coffees etc while it rained outside.

Great shots, Paul! I'm glad you posted them. High ISO is technique and you managed it well. I especially like the brandy glass! There is nothing at all wrong with grain in a photograph, especially in B/W. Two words: Never second guess yourself, and don't be afraid to post anything. Ok...that's like eleven words, but you get the point!!

Paul, as usual, a great set of photos. I really like the street scene. Because it is night and taken shortly after a rain, it has an interesting feel about it. I love the puddle in the side walk. That adds so much, as do the various lights. The people shots are cool too. But then, I tend to enjoy looking at more or less candid portraiture rather than formal portraits. Best wishes.

Thanks for the encouragement, Jim. Bob holding the brandy glass is my fave of this set for the clarity in the glass, and selective focus. I realize there is nothing wrong with grain in B&W shots as it goes back to the high ISO film look of the good old days. I am always more concered about detail etc, and you lose a little with high ISO. Cheers mate.

Thanks Tomas. The street scene is cool as well, I plan on trying to focus a little more on night scenes during winter as i think they are good for B&W, and you know me!

Very nice set Paul, the B&W works with the high ISO settings. Looks like a good time with good friends!
