Default New user, playin' around

Have had my camera less than a week and trying to teach myself. These shots were done on manual mode. But, I've already learned my mistakes, shot in AF

Okay, here are 2 shots I took the other day of my son and was in Manual mode and stupid me, shooting on MF also.. Hey, live and learn, right?

Photobucket

Shutter: 1/60
Ap: 1.8 manual focus (bad idea)
ISO: 1600

Photobucket

Same settings

Photobucket

Shutter: 1/20
Ap: 2.0
ISO: 1600

again, manual focus...

But, those are a few I've shot so far indoors with my great little 50mm 1.8

Photography is a very fun and rewarding hobby. Glad to see your trying manual control already!

There's nothing particularly wrong with shooting on MF, but I find that it's mostly a matter of AF doing the job perfectly well most of the time. I don't think MF did anything to your shots, but they're yours so maybe they didn't turn out as well as you wanted them to?

nice portraits... nice to know that you are learning with manual modes. I personally feel that less ISO would be good when you have enough light source(first two pics)...
good work.
Cheers

I think these are great. Stick with us here on DPS and you will learn lots. Also, make the most of your son letting you take his photo.... it doesnt last long LOL. Thanks for sharing (TFS).

Thank you. I set my ISO high, because I was shooting in my kitchen and the lighting stinks
