looks like you bumped the contrast a bit to get that more pronouned. but you got me what the heck it is

It's not everyday one can make that comment! Nice dramatic sky. Is that a light ray being beamed up from the ground or something?

Judging from the splash of light in the sky it looks to be an old-fashioned search light. Anyone old enough to remember WW2 and new model introductions at car dealers in the 1950's would recognize it.
Nevertheless it's a great capture.

its not a search light or any sort of alien-related beam :P
its a lens flare, and that's the sun
