Default Officer Down

We have had five police officers ambushed and killed here in Washington state in the past 30 days, and one more wounded. Not shot chasing bad guys, but assassinated.

I took these photos from a long row of motors that were parked at the Seattle Center after the funeral for slain Seattle Police Officer Timothy Brenton. I was working and drove by the Space Needle and saw the bikes parked. Even though I was running late, I turned around and took a few minutes to get a few shots.

I'm sure many of you have heard about the other four officers ambushed and killed this past Sunday in the coffee shop in Lakewood, which is only 40 miles from Seattle. Luckily this morning a very alert Seattle officer was able to put a stop to the threat and the hunt for the suspect and very likely saved his own life and countless others.

Our hearts are heavy over this unprecented assault on our peace officers and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the officers. May this senseless violence stop, and may all of us appreciate just a little more what these officers do for us every day, and the risks they take.

Many agencies represented here.

They even came from Idaho.

Thanks PJ. Yes, and November was nothing but rain. It is a beautiful city though. From Seattle to Kentucky is quite the move.

Thanks Tiffany.

A fitting tribute to these officers by way of fabulous photos. I especially love the 3rd one where you've cleverly captured the reflection in the mirror.

Such horrific events over there, I can't even begin to imagine how it feels to be on the receiving end of news of the loss of a loved one in such circumstances.
