Default Beached

Here's a couple more from my trip to the beach.

Fetch

Fetch

Lowtide
Lowtide

Both of these were basically photoshop practice, and I did quite a bit of playing with them.
I missed getting the stick in the first, so I made one.. both dog and man were way too dark, like black sillouettes, so I lightened them. Low tide needed a much bigger sky ( wanted the horizon on the top 1/3 line ) and it was very washed out, so I added some selective contrast.

thanks for taking a look,

Vin

Good work Vin I like both shots and it's nice to see a beach that's wider than a few feet and with sea shells.

Nice job vin. I thought photoshop was similar to gimp? Is it alot different? I've been thinking about cs4 real hard and don't know if i want to switch and start over learning how to edit.

Great work! I love the dog and man shot - your stick fooled me! Until I read to the end of your post, I had no idea the stick was man-made! Can't believe how much you obviously did to your shoreline shot either, that's awesome.

I like "Fetch" as portrait and landscape shot. I should head for the beach too.

Thanks, Vin -- inspiring as usual to see your work and read about what you're thinking and doing in PP. I had no idea you created that stick -- it looks perfect. And I love the texture of the sand in the second one. I think the first is my favorite, though -- the story of man and dog is an oldie but goodie.

Thanks Prime ... I get frustrated with Gimp .. I gave it a good try and learn it, but man it's got such a big learning curve.. and since I got photoshop elements 7 with my tablet I've been learning and practicing with it. #8 is out now and you merge muliple photos in one with it and it's just a little more then $100.00 .. I would recommend that to start.. it's not nearly as featured as CS4 .. but I really think most people with CS4 w/ lightroom only use about 25% of what the program does ... so elements is a good way to learn and get comfortable before you take the $700+ plunge.

Thank you Nikki. I just picked two shots I thought had potential but hard too many flaws and played with them a bit... the stick was easy, making the sky bigger in the second took a while... but are not what I consider up to my standards, but I post stuff here all the time that aren't so great, just to share what I'm working on lately. Thanks for your compliments

Thank you Helen ...I really wanted the fetch shot to be awesome when I shot it.. but my settings were for my back to the sun , not almost into it and I kinda washed out the man and dog.. I'm glad you like them though and I do appreciate your kind words

Both are well done photos, but the first one takes the prize for me. Great timing and lighting in them Vin!
