Default Last of the Monarchs

These are the final shots I'll share from the Monarch Grove. I hope you enjoyed them.

Now, I tried to capture one in flight.... Wow is that a lesson in futility. This is the best I could do.

Wow Fred... these are really cool... I had to look closely to realize that those were all butterflies on the branches. At a glance they look like leaves. Wonderful shots! Thanks for sharing.

Ahhh. I see the updated pic now. Considering how fluttery these guys are, that's not bad. At least you got some great bokeh in it!!

Like Jim said... these guys are fast flappers and you caught him pretty good. I also LOVE the bokeh in that shot. (I'm still trying to learn to do that )

Thank very much Jim, glad you enjoyed the whole set. The bokeh did come out pretty good.

Thanks very much for the generous comment Nikki. The main thing for bokeh is to open the aperture up so that the DoF is fairly shallow.

The last I checked there were 8000 plus in this grove. Historically, they have been as many as 230K... There are several places in CA where they migrate to. Thanks so much for looking and for the kind words.
