It's gelatine!

I made a huge batch of different colored gelatine, cut them up and put them on a piece of black plexiglass. I fired a pellet through them, and the flashes fired at the same time the gun went off (I have a sound trigger).

In all, I probably have about 20 of these photos...these two were the most interesting.

I like the first one better because of the, for lack of a better word, gelatin spray. It makes it seem more kinetic. The reflection is a nice touch as well. Fascinating shots!

that looks so cool! I prefer the first as the colours seem to jump out more and has captured the motion well

Awesome shots! Those colors are amazing, I also love the texture of the gelatin blocks and the splatter effect, very cool. I prefer the first with the nicely contrasting black background.

INCREDIBLE! I love them both but the first is definitely my favorite. I love the colors against the black and the reflections of the colors. Thanks for sharing!

The 1st is much better due to contrast etc

The contrast, reflections and splatter make the first one the winner for me. Excellent work.
