Default Always looking...5 minutes before dark.

I was driving home after taking my wife to a viewing of a dear friend who had passed away a few days before Thanksgiving. It was cloudy all day until about an hour before sundown.

Now the road is basically one of those roads that motorcyclist would love...and people who own a Ferrari...People who are in a minivan struggling to keep it on the road with 20 minutes of light to go...are either crazy, going to or from funeral, or a photographer...or all three. It's basically an S curve on top of an S curve on top of...Well eventually it gets to the top of a "hill" where it makes a final turn and heads down another ridge.

As I was clearing that final turn, this was in front of me. I had my camera...of course...like I've said before, it goes everywhere with me. So I stop the van, back up a little, put on the hazard lights...for safety...open the window and click away with my 70-200vr. I hear tires screeching as a car comes up the hill, no time to chimp so head off and get home before viewing the results:

Photobucket

Well That's after about 20 min of PP. here is the way too busy before:

Photobucket
The small fuzzy things are 50' trees on the other ridge about a mile or two away. All of the FG "clutter" is the remainder of a forest fire from about ten or so years ago. Five minutes after this was taken...dark.

Wow, that color! The PP version is just wonderful, and thanks for showing us both. That's always so instructional for me.

I found that the best way to remove the sticks was to use the clone stamp tool and change the brush to lighten...that way only the sticks were changed...there were some halos as well that were taken care of by changing the brush mode to darken...none of the other tools would work as well as the clone tool did. The patch tool came in a close second. but when it got to the ridge line, it turned it into mush.

Thanks, I am always as safe as I can be, when I get my camera out. If there had been a car behind me, I would have let it go. There isn't much that I would be willing to risk getting hurt for...although a pano of my town from our water tower would be awesome.

I, however would never want to do this:

I am not crazy! And I'm sure Joe was safely locked in. But the thought just gives me the willies!
