Default If Luke Skywalker had a digital camera.....

...so, last night after eating another pound of leftover turkey, I strolled into the dark backyard where the kids were playing with their Yoda and Anakin light sabers. These are the nicer neon-like, illuminated ones. Instantly, I thought, "Wow. I need my camera..." Here's the result! These were taken with my Nikkor 105, wide open with an exposure time of 1.5 seconds. If you look closely, you can see their silhouettes and some ghost-like images of their faces. These first 4 are SOOC. You gotta try this!!!

Star Wars 3

star wars 2

Star Wars 1 (1 of 1)

Star Wars 4 (1 of 1)

Check below for another shot. I reduced the exposure in Lightroom to drop out everything but the light traces to achieve a real artsy shot.

Thanks for looking.

Here's the artsy one. I'm going to do this some more and try to get the faces better focused and illuminated in the shot.

Star Wars 5 (1 of 1)

Wow, these are awesome Jim! You really are the Jedi Knight. I didn't know what to expect when I opened the thread, but it wasnt this effect. Now get back to the kitchen and have another pound of turkey & let's see what magic you can come up with for today!

Thanks, Vim! What's nice about these, is that it was handheld, and the blur just added to the shot. Not much skill on my part!!

Thanks, Aneesh. The last one was my favorite also! I could see these in a series of 4 on the wall of a light-painting enthusiast. Thanks for looking.

Wow, Jim, what amazing photos. So glad your kids have those light sabers to play with! That last "artsy" one is especially beautiful. I can hardly wait to see more of these!

Superb! I was expecting Lego figures (perhaps because we've got lots of them round here!) and this was a really pleasant surprise. The first one with the silhoutte is really great!

Wow! I'm having a Senior moment and never realised. A worthy thread indeed to reach it!
