Default The wedding at the nursing home

A few weeks ago I asked for some suggestions about photographing a wedding where both the Bride and Groom were in wheelchairs..... well thanks to your suggestions and some of Ruthie's equipment and Ruthie's participation we have a few shots to share from the wedding.
But first a little history of how this came about..........
My aunt is in a nursing home in my old hometown and my dad goes out to visit daily. He made some friends with the residents there and found out that 2 of them were wanting to plan to get married. They tell him that they have no money for a wedding but wish they could get married.
So dad goes into action.......
He got the preacher from our church to volunteer to do the services for free of charge.
He got a local floral shop to donate the flowers and archway for the wedding.
My Aunt and Uncle who sing in a gospel quartet sang at the wedding.
A friend of my sister who bakes cakes donated the wedding cake.
And me, my wife and Ruthie donated our photography.
And the wedding went off without a hitch in the nursing home's cafeteria.

Here are shot that I took from the wedding. My wife is still working on hers and I haven't seen Ruthie's yet.

These shots have given me goosebumps. That tells me its ab-fab and brings a tear to my eye. Good on you all for your time, effort and energy into creating a special day for these two and for making their dream/wish come true. You have all just renewed my faith in humanity, that there are actually still people out there who will do something for nothing. Bless you all.

Michelle.

Thanks guys it was a wonderful wedding and I was pleased we even got the opportunity to help these folks out. Like my dad always says "if you feel you aren't blessed in your life just go out to the nursing home and spend a few hours. Some of those folks don't even have familes who come to visit them and some cannot even leave the place".

Wow, what a fabulous story, thanks for sharing it with us. Your dad is definitely getting some good karma coming his way for all his arranging there - what a wonderful man he is for loking out for others and doing so much for them. Same goes for yourself, your wife, & Ruthie - telling you what good souls you all are just doesn't even begin to cut it.

A very touching tale indeed.
