Default A Trip With Preacherman:Hop Aboard(4)

Good morning DPS pilgrims. Not so many on leg 3 yesterday. Preparing for Thanksgiving maybe? Well, you may have been the lucky ones, because we had an awful night. We walked back from the hostelry in the pitch black and settled in the tent, but didn't realise that just beyond that grassy bank was a railway line. Boxcar Willie would have loved the train whistles blowing, but at about 3.30 am in the dark, we packed up and set a bead on Vienna, arriving about 9.30 am. To compensate, we are staying in a top class hotel in Vienna tonight which I know you will love. The views here are from about 300 shots that I took and some are from the tour bus that I booked you on. Enjoy the day and the ride.

This is The Burgtheatre, Austria's national theatre. Several of Mozarts operas were premiered here in the 1700's, and all around are places where he and other similar maestro's were born, lived, worked or ate.

Not a good pic of The (not so) Blue Danube. Snapped it from the bus, but had to include it of course.

This is The Imperial Palace, where Austrian royalty once resided. The horse drawn landau's are known as "Fiackers", and were the originals, subsequently adopted by other countries, not least New York. Sorry, I couldn't afford to take you all on one, and anyway, you have to be real careful with your pronunciation when calling one!

This is The Church of the Good Shepherd. Wonderful inside. Hope you like it.

Well, my friends, that's your day in Vienna. We will repair to the hotel and enjoy a luxurious night, have a breakfast and a further half day here before packing up and heading for the Czech Republic. See you in the morning. Good night God bless. PAUL

Good morning Paul, well yes I could still hear the train whistle through my earplugs so yes I was pleased we headed out even at such an early hour. I enjoyed our stops at these interesting places full of history. I look forward to our last half day here in Vienna tomorrow before continuing on our way to Czech Republic.

What a fun tour this is! Thanks for inviting us along, Paul. Especially grateful for that hotel after a few nights in the tent. I really like the photo of the church, with the beautiful dome and all the commotion out in front.

Another great day in the saddle Paul, I love the river from the bridge shot especially, looks a very lovely place. Glad we in a hotel tonight, need a soak in the tub, feeling a tad saddle sore!
Great stuff mate, missed day 3, going to dig it out now.
