Default Rescued Wildlife

My wife and I run a wildlife rehabilitation centre. This affords me the opportunity to get really close to some of nature's beautiful creatures that I would otherwise never see. I use the photos in an annual calendar to fund-raise for our organization. These animals are brought to us as orphans or because of some injury that is usually the result of some human activity.

Here are a few shots.

Northern Saw-whet Owl (orphan)

From CWRC Calendar Candidates

Turkey Vulture (unknown trauma)

Snowshoe Hare (orphan)

American Bald Eagle (upon release)

That's got to be a fulfilling job. And you get to take pictures as well. Well done on both counts.

What wonderful photos! I especially love the first one -- the little owl has such an appealing softness. I think what really amazes me, though, is the turkey vulture. I have never considered them to be beautiful creatures, but seeing his eye up close I find I am really drawn to him as well. There is such vitality and determination in his soul. And could it be a tiny reflection of the photographer in his eye? Thanks so much for sharing these, and thanks too for your care for these creatures.

I take my hat off to you guys and bow. These are precious creatures that may otherwise have not survived but for your care and dedication. And you let us in on the act with your splendid shots. God bless all of you and thank you for the great job you do. PAUL
