Default BW Sunrise over the Grand Canyon

...so, not much going on with my trigger finger the last couple days. As I was telling Martha, I was pouring through some old pictures...pics that were taken before I developed the (meager) eye I have now. This one struck me as a potential b/w, so here's how it turned out. One of my better composed pics from the early days...taken shortly after my D3 and I were introduced...and still trying to get a feel for each other. Hope you like!

...and since Duane asked, I added a couple more...

...and one in color, showing the January sunlight just peeking into the canyon at 8am

Jim, beautiful shot! I am surprised you had to go digging for this one. How many more of these are you hiding?

thats a beaut! I think I have a photo (colour of course, so maybe a change needed) of me sitting on the end of that very outcrop - was on film and have lost the negatives... I think spring cleaning has to be given some quality control in my house....

I am going to scan it and fiddle - this is inspiration.

Really nice pic though

Looks like you've spent some time in my neck of the woods. I really like the way the B&W emphasizes the light and shadow. And beautiful crisp detail! Thanks for posting it.

Jim, you have done it again. Another beautiful set. My favorite is the first...so sharp, so much contrast and yet so many shades. Excellent job my friend!

These are beautiful Jim! I feel like I can see every detail in the canyon walls on those B&Ws. They're fabulous for B&W. The color shot is gorgeous too - I love it's "near and far" feel, but also love the colors you've captured just about everywhere.

Thanks, Tom. I really liked the first one because of the snow on the outcropping by the tree. It just gleamed!!
