Gentlemen, stand down!

There's always a story. We were all conscripted to the army when we were about 18. To serve our National Service commitment. It was a 2 1/2 years affair. After that we had to serve an average of about 3 weeks every year to brush up our military skills over the next 10 years for WOSEs (warrant officers and spe******ts) and 15 years for officers. Sunday was the stand-down of the 649th Singapore Infantry Regiment. We have completed our commitment to the nation. Although we hated conscription, nevertheless we will miss each other, having gone through much in the Army. From the left you see: Sergeant of Section 1, the platoon sergeant, the Sergeant of the MG section, Sergeant of Section 2 (me!) and the platoon commander. We are all from Platoon 9 Charlie Company.
