Default On-the-other-job-portraits

So the company that I work for (Guitar Center) needed some pictures to be taken of their managers. They know that I am a photographer, and asked me to bring my camera this past Friday. They wanted something different and edgy, not the usual portrait. I got creative with my flashes and these are some of the shots I got... hope you all like them. Let me know what you think

Nice! I think I like the first on the best. I like the fact that is was taken at a slight angle too.

Love these shots. They are definately very edgy and not so ordinary portraits. Well done. I hope the company likes them, I know I certainly do. TFS.

Ah, guitars and cameras always go together hand in hand. Great perspectives and great shots all together. You certainly hit the right notes. Cheers

I think the background is distracting and takes away from the feel of the shot, you have also underexposed the subject and lost detail.

I really like all three of these. But for me, what makes the first one stand out is the way the diagonal of the guitar is perpendicular to the diagonals of street and sidewalk. Great!

I don't think these are underexposed at all... They are composed well, and as you wanted, edgy. Nice shots all in all. I might have varied the background and put the guys at different angles but, these are well done. IMHO.... great job!

i agree you should have lightened the guy in the photo a bit and had background blured a tad however the way Photo Phix touched up your photo to me it looks like the guy is just pasted on there. i think it would look better to take another photo or 2 or 20 to find a pic that has the best of both lightened and blured.

Default thanks

hey guys thanks so much for the input, I really do appreciate it. I had less than 15mins to set up and get those three guys out of the way, because they're busy and it was a Friday which is one of our busiest days. I purposely underexposed the shot a bit to get that edgy kind of look when I used the flash... it was done on purpose and in order for me to also be able to do that I had to have an aperture of f/14, so nothing in the picture was blurred. And I'm one of those people that if the blurring is not done at the time of the shot being taken, I dont like how it looks in post, it just looks....fake. Thanks again, keep commenting
