Default Finally another family shoot...

This was a beautiful and fun family but some of my fears came true. I think I handled them well. My mom let me borrow her external flash in case I needed it. I have no previous experience with one and was hoping I would not need to use it. However I traveled to a town I am not familiar and they chose a park that is flat with no shade at 10-11am. Even after my trying to discourage them of these things. The sun was blaring, the wind was blowing and it was cold! So fill flash was going to be my only hope to salvage anything at this park. For my first time with it I think I did pretty well. I am sure these could be better but I think they will be happy with them. Their were 5 adults and 4 children, I knew the kids were not going to want to be in the cold and wind for long. I was right! The noses were running and the moods were quickly going as well. So we headed back to Grandma's house were I set up my lights and backdrop, also not large enough for a big group. I have only had to work with big groups outdoors before. I was certainly challenged during this shoot. Please feel free to let me know what you think. Good or bad! Thanks for looking!

Third one is super on all counts......I wonder why the group would have wanted a standing pose in front of what looks like apartment buildings?? I guess that's why studios are so nice......much more controlled environment plus there's hot chocolate on the stove to keep the moods happy!

If you have an external flash and you are outside and the sun is harsh put everybody underneath a tree where there is shade. The external flash will provide enough light to eradicate all shadows on the faces. It is still a outstanding series pictures posted by you.

Oh, thank you all so much. They have not seen them yet. I am crossing my fingers that they like them. I also am in love with #3. They were such a fun young family and it really shows in that shot! The Dad in the photo is being deployed with the military in a couple of weeks so they wanted some photos to cherish while he is away. I hope I have given them some. Thank you all!
