Default The Rockies from 30K feet! Ho Hum, but was my first try!

...so I'm up at 30K feet on my way back from California. I was trying to get the sunset, but the guy sitting in a row by himself was a little less than cooperative when I politely asked I could scoot in next to the window to sneak a shot. His look said it all...and I basically bowed out.

So, I had to get SOMETHING from my first commercial flight with my gear on board, and this was the result. I had to play with it a little bit, cuz the window was playing with the light a bit. Anyway, thanks for looking.

Jim, excellent shot under your conditions. Huge and massive Mountain Range!

A great and wonderous picture Jim, but clearly your fellow passenger wasn't a kindred photog spirit as a exercised his constitutional rights to be an Ahole. Nothwithstanding this minor hinderance you produce a stunning study of the Rocky mountains at 30000 feet, which is over five and a half miles up in the air, wow.

I'm not one to throw titles around, but, yes I did mention that I was mayor of Cropodopolis. But the response was, "What the $%&# is a Cropodopolis???" and he promptly went back to sleep. Maybe I need to get some business cards! Yeah...that's the ticket!! Guess I'll have to find some other way to get us on the map....I wonder if we show up on Google Earth yet???

Thanks for looking!

Great shot under those circumstances Jim.

If I was given that scenario to deal with my response to that particular fellow would be a one word reply - Karma.

If I didnt know better I would say those are the Spanish Peaks or otherwise known as the Huahatoyas.

Nice shot...airplane shots are difficult for a number of reasons- the windows are generally dirty/scratched/ contain ice crystals, but it came off Ok.

Sorry for the passenger....but I wouldn't be too hard on him. He probably didn't understand what you were doing and was likely tired. I often travel for business- and it can be a hassle leaving the meeting, getting stuck in traffic, dealing with the TSA lines and sometimes the airline personnel. A few trips, I just wanted to be left alone once I got on board. My last trip to New Orleans, the cab got a flat tire driving to the airport.

Gorgeous result though! Every time I try for out-of-the-window shots on planes, I get things that look like my mother shot them! As for your neighbor on the plane - people never cease to amaze me. Every time I think I've managed to idiot-proof my life, they come up with better idiots. I echo Patrick - pooey on the passenger.

Great shot. I've never been on a plane. Now that I know what it's like to look out the window I don't need to fly. Thanks and TFS.
