Very late in the afternoon this photograph was taken. The sun long had set and in the twilight all that could be decerned was the shadowy form of this tiny parasitic wasp, as it clung to a tall stem of grass.
![]() Canon EOS 7D w/Sigma f/2.8 150mm EX DG APO Macro 1/200 sec. @ f/16 ISO 400 Canon 430EX Speedlite, Post processing: PSE 4 The wasp is a female, the ovipositor just bearly visible in the photograph. Upon observing these wasps a few early evenings in a row, it is taken that this is normal behavior for them and that they can be found resting close to the stems of not only tall grasses but on that of other small plants or weeds as well.

Great shot, so sharp!
Those things creep me out though! Seeing the David Attenborough programme where the eggs were laied on the larva and ate it from the inside out still gives me ngihtmares!

David Attenborough could tell you about how to make a "Banana Split" and creep you out, LOL! I love his documentaries too. Yes their behavior is a bit morbid to some but I find these little wasps to be so fascinating and much more so the Ichneumons with their big "doll eyes." Thanks AnnaV

Hello Ken, and welcome to DPS. If this is an example of the quality we can expect from you then I am sure I speak on behalf of us all when I say I am looking forward to seeing more. I am just getting into macro. Keep posting. God bless. PAUL
PS You have posted this in Macro Critique. This thread requires you ask specific questions related to the shot and also that you post EXIF too . If not then the Share Your Shots thread is probably the place. FYI.

Thanks everyone and to our moderator for moving my posts that I put in the wrong section.
I sometimes do landscapes and waterfalls, along with other nature shots here in the mountains of Western North Carolina but it seems that macro in nature is my passion. The world is really big when you look at it in small sort of way.
