Default Taking off my shoes

Tenzin and I went for a long walk this morning, just as the sun was making the world glow. Here are a few of our treasures:

Burning Bush

Berries

Last leaf

I love the way that photography helps me to see. It was too cold to take off my shoes, but after that morning walk I've carried this poem in my heart all day:

Earth's crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
And only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.
-- Elizabeth Barrett Browning

I wish you joyful seeing!

Helen, these are beautiful. I've always appreciated your appreciation of beauty. You are so attuned. This camera is a perfect companion for all the sacred ground you will trod, shoes or no. Hugs to Tenzin.

Beautiful captures of nature with great dof. I love the sound and feel of fallen leaves crunching beneath my feet and these pics and your words make me imagine doing just that. As it is summer here now I will have to wait and in the meantime imagine. TFS

Thanks, Linda. That love of beauty is one of our many connections, isn't it? My P&S did well for me, but I'm loving the new camera and taking it everywhere. Tenzin is learning (slowly) not to pull on the leash when mom stops to take a photo -- I'm grateful for that IS lens!

Thanks, Angelb! I love using shallow DOF. Glad you enjoyed a taste of fall -- I'm looking forward to seeing more of your wonderful summer photos to keep me warm as we head into winter.

Thanks, PhotogChic and shmelly! It was the sunlight that did it -- I had taken a photo of the same little Japanese maple just 5 minutes earlier that was pretty but didn't glow. So glad I was there to see the light change.

Thanks, Jim -- I appreciate your encouragement. I liked that one a lot, and wondered if anyone else would. I had never even seen an applejack tree before moving into my present home, and have found it challenging to photograph because the structure of the branches is so complex. But this one worked, I think.

Thanks, Nicky, he is indeed. Not to mention sweet, smart, funny, cuddly, energetic and a totally happy little being. (Oops, guess the dog mom in me is showing.) Anyhow, thanks for taking time to look at my photos and comment!

Hello Helen
"Earth's crammed with heaven". Having read that line, I can't stop repeating it over and over. True though it is, only a photographer can draw every last ounce of heaven from the earth through his or her photographic interpretations, and then if that were not enough, share it with the world. You have blessed me today Helen with your words and pictures. Thank you and God bless. PAUL
