Many thanks, Mike. Glad you like the "inferno effect."

I agree! Flames, especially flames in campfire, are hypnotizing to me. Maybe because they are always changing and evolving, and will never look exactly the same way again? Thanks for your thoughts and comments.

S'mores aren't only for 12-year olds. This is about the 10th time we've gone camping, and we always go with some of her classmates and their Dads. Kate really does have a great time at these camp outs. Thanks for you comments, Lina.

Thanks. For the 2nd and 3rd photos, I really just wanted to see if I could get a long exposure without blowing out any or much of the photo. It was a fun experiment.

Nice to see I am not the only one that sits around the campfire shooting. The people I'm usually camping with have begun to make a joke of it.

Camping has become a little more sophisticated since I started but the fun hasn't decrerased at all. I loved it, my kids loved it and by the look of it, you guys loved it too.
I like these Chip, all extremely well captured and presented pictures, so easy to over expose but not here, even in the second and third images, thats top quality work mate

Nice shots, Chip. I like the first one. More detail in the actual flame, and excellent comp. TFS

Thank you, Steve. We go just twice a year, but my daughter and I sure do have a good time. With just Dads around - and therefore limited rules and obligations imposed on the kids - I call it a "Lord of the Flies" event.

For the 2nd and 3rd ones, I used a polarizer and moved the camera around. Without moving the camera, I kept getting too many blown out parts in the flames with the shutter open for 4 seconds.

Nice fire shots, Chip. It's a cold and rainy day here. I feel much better now.
