I was alone on this trip. Just me, my bike and my tent. This is the Sorrento to Amalfi road on the west coast of Italy. Was in Pompei a little earlier that day. This is about 40 miles of the most stunning scenery you can imagine. I am almost glad I wasn't into photography then. I would have been stopping every 100 yards!

Beautiful shot Paul. You're a lucky man to be able to do so much traveling.

I am so jealous. Sounds like you are taking some wonderful trips in some places that I would love to see.
Since I will probably never get to experience them for myself, I am living vicariously through you. Please keep sharing. |

You know what Proud Mom, I am so glad you said that, cos I was reticent to post "holiday snaps" for fear of boredom, but I will continue to take you with me as I travel. Step aboard and hold tight! PAUL

This brings back such lovely memories of hiking along the Mediterranean in Cinque Terre. I can testify to the fact that it is possible, just barely, to hike and shoot photos. Just reading the word Amalfi makes my heart sing. I hope you had a wonderful time. The solitude alone must have been invigorating! I love the serenity and quality of light in your photo. That's hard to do but you did it!

Beautiful scenery...I know that I would be sorely tempted to get off too much and shoot lest I not pass this way again.....But biking and tenting cuts the costs of these excursions considerably and you get to amplify your closeness to the surroundings...look forward to seeing more of your escapades

Thank you so much for your good wishes Jennie. I was fortunate enough to have good advice at your age and planned a strategy that was based around retiring at 50 and doing just what I am doing now. But it takes discipline and determination and industriousness. I hope you can do the same, but earlier. Every second counts Jennie, and is a never to be repeated passage of that important facility - TIME. Health and happiness be yours too, and maybe when you travel that road, our paths may cross. God bless. PAUL
