Default My 2000th Post! Celebrating some firsts here!!

First off, let me thank everyone on DPS for your wonderful friendship. I hope you all know what you mean to me and my photography! It is for that reason I dedicated my photo-gallery website to all my friends and family here!! I've been away for a couple of days, and boy have I been in withdrawal. I'll probably make 3K by the end of the week!!

I wanted to share two "firsts" from yesterday...my first "real" food shoot, and my first non-family Christmas card shots!!

Busy photo day yesterday...two shoots in one day!!

...so a good friend of the family asked me to do their Christmas photos this year. Here are two of them. I couldn't bring myself to charge them, because last year, a family member CHARGED them. Of all the nerve! Further proof that "Family" is the original "F" word!!!

Also, a buddy of mine owns a BBQ restaurant. I designed his website and took his original food pics way back when. He asked me to take some more food pics with my light setup. It was a shame, though, cuz after we were done....we couldn't just throw the food away!!! He's very proud of the size of his burgers, so we eclipsed the model's face to show scale!!!

Juicy Goodness BW SC 2 (1 of 1)

Took 4 shots to get this drip!! Good burger!!!

Do you know whats nice about this? I seem to be the first one to congratulate you on reaching such a fantastic pinnacle. Very well done my friend on reaching this point on here, I am so pleased for you. You are always full of encouragement and praise for everyone else and I am glad to know you and call you a friend here, your work is awesome and if I was half as good I would be a happy man.
I have to say I love these images and their post editing, the family portrait is smashing and I really love the editing on the food image so much. I would be honored if I had you taking my images for me. Anyway heres to a lot more input from you. Have fun and again thanks for being here for all of us.

Your friend has a beautiful family and your pictures capture the love they clearly share, the other friend however will no doubt be sticking pins into an equilution effigy The food shots are great, and you're right, thats the biggest burger I've ever seen.
Jim, even if you weren't Mayor of Cropodopilis, it would be a pleasure to know you. You are a talented photographer and your work is varied and innovative, but always top quality, and you help and inspire many members with your supportive and encouraging feedback.
I'm delighted to call you my friend Jim, congratulations on 2000 posts
Steve

Congrats Jim, & what gorgeous shots! The Christmas photos are perfect, I'm sure your friends will adore them. Unbelievable that family would charge them last year!! Sounds like something mine would do. Hehe, just kidding mum & dad, if you're reading. What am I thinking - they can't even switch on their P&S.....

The burger shots are awesome too, & I think the selective coloring works a treat here!

Congrats Jim, & I can't wait for the next 2000.

Great way to celebrate 2k. Christmas shots are nice. I like the lite vignetting you utilized. The food shots are very good, your use of selective coloring is great and so is the shot showing the grease dripping. I judge a hamburger by how messy my sleeves get to be from it.
