Default Caution: Slightly Graphic Bird of Prey

I am somewhat hesitant to post these shots as they are slightly graphic of an American Kestrel having dinner. It is nature after all, sorry if this bothers anyone, but a bird gotta eat too.

Went for a walk this afternoon and just grabbed the camera to take along. Didn't have a set plan to take photos, just have the camera along in case something was available. This lady flew by me and landed in a tree a hundred yards or so away. I decided to head in her direction to see what was happening.

Golden Light Kestrel

Here she is a little closer...

Proud of the Catch

Taking a big bite of dinner, after this shot I backed away and let her finish dinner without me interrupting.

Ummm!

These are truly amazing Fred. Love the little lady. She's just as beautiful as can be having dinner in the afternoon light.

Rocking shots Bud ! they are such a pretty raptor,, just beautiful !
and most people do not know this ... but kestrels reach the fastest speed of any animal of anykind in thier dives.. +100mph, I am sure this one didn't have let loose the jets to catch it's lunch lol .

Clean crisp exposure and focus, not much red at all, so it's not really very graphic .. excellent work !

Wow....not fond of kills in nature myself, but I know the need for them...watched and shot African lions eating a horse (previously killed and cut up)....not fun, but certainly amazing to watch them in action.
Great shots of this bird of prey

Incredible shots. This set transforms something so commonplace as "eating dinner" into an event that all of us are treated to. Thanks.
