Default The wind beneath my wings...

Thanks for everyone's great feedback on my new gallery website.
I've been trying to get some more pictures up.
I found these airplane shots from my trip to the Reno Air Races,
and played with them a bit. I hope you like.

Brothers in flight
P-51s Resting (1 of 1)

Old Glory in flight
C17 USA (1 of 1)

The new Cirrus Jet...sexy lines!
Cesssna Jet

Meditation...in waiting for the next race
Waiting for the race (1 of 1)

By request, here's a link to the video I shot while flying Crazy Horse and Crazy Horse 2 in formation with my father. The video starts off a little blurry, but be patient. Once the PnS I was using got past the cockpit window, it all got stunningly gorgeous...no room in there for my HD video camera. The other mustang drops down underneath me and comes up off my left wing for a view I'll never forget!!! We then split up to do our own maneuvers before we joined back up for a formation landing. I gotta get back there!

I think the video's been truncated, but cool footage nevertheless.

Love the images Jim, well taken and edited. Makes me realise how much I miss my time in the Air Force.
Love the P51 so much, what a fantastic aircraft it is.
David.

I love the first one, Jim. Composition is perfect. Not that two and three are shabby either

Your love of airplanes comes through in your pictures.

Awesome shots Jim. Love the first for its composition & the selective coloring. The 2nd is great for similar reasons, and I love how you froze it so early after take-off, and how you captured the haze around the underside, it's great! The 3rd is fabulous, those colors and patterns contrast so dramatically against the more bland desert backdrop.

Wow! Great pics. Can you tell me how you do the effect of leaving just one thing (ie: US flag) in color and the rest in B&W? Can I get some good photo editing software for free or at a good value?
Thx,
Alex

The only software I know of is Lightroom. That's the only one I have experience with. I think you can do it with photoshop, but I can't speak intelligently about it. Here's a link to a How To on DPS.

Thanks, Martha. Been trying to get a way from croposition, and try to get back the pure form of photography.

Thanks, Nicky! You gotta make the most of it when you're shooting in the desert...that's for sure.
