Interestingly,when I stepped into the vestibule / reception area of the hotel,expecting a nice Portuguese smile, I was in for a shock.
'Do you have a reservation?' madam. Completely stone faced.
'No,but I would like to see the azulejos'.
'Sorry-we cannot allow that'. Ice cold look.
'And I would like fresh coffee and some macaroons',.
'Please-feel free'. Sickly smile.
And NO,I didn't leave a tip!

Hello Maureen ... now, that's no way to treat a nice person like you .. and I don't blame you for not leaving a tip .. again, excellent images .. love the composition of the second photo (edit) and the last one.. they all look very coloful

Hi Leona............it's an amazing place to visit-very interesting. Angela is now 62 and has no idea of how lovely she is-inside and out.It was her first trip to Portugal-her husband had been before-she loved the place.

Martha-thank you for that feedback-it was a tricky shot to get and I hesitated to post it. Aren't the tiles beautiful and still colourful after all this time.

Hi Hayward,apparently they get fed up with people popping in to see the stunning azulejos-but that's the whole magic and charm of the place. However,they weren't busy so daft to upset potential customers. Glad you like this set.
