That skull is a wonderful prop, but in my humble opinion it doesn't belong perched in a backyard tree. As your title suggests it would serve better in a desert setting with perhaps cacti, yucca, sand, and maybe another prop such as a rusty old spur or a length of rope.

Hi Tara, I'm in no way an expert, but here's my opinion.

The picture it a bit confusing, not sure what the subject is; the tree is a bit distracting, that is, if the skull is your subject. Try changing your point of view and apply some bokeh. This should look better. ;-)

Yeah, I'm not sure why it's there either. It's in my fiance's backyard so there's no telling. I was just playing with lighting and perspective and post production. Thanks for your comments!

I'm so new. . .I'm not sure what you mean by bokeh.
