Default Water and Milk splashes

Last night I decided to have a go at capturing some water and milk drops. It takes a lot of patience to get the right shot!

I have had a bitof fun with these, they are great because most shots have some different aspect to them, I shot mine in a blue glass bowl with natural sunlight supplying the light through the bowl

Great shots. I have tried this, but guess patience is not one of my strong points .
Must put it on my to-do list again. Any tips??

they're nice, different from the classic "crowns", good job.

Really just practice and timing, set a steady drip but slow enough for the water to settle before the next drip (I used an inverted plastic coke bottle with a hole in the lid) and then you can get your timing right and would suggest you use a flash also .. good luck and look forward to seeing the results

Here was my crude set up:
Set up
Set up
Chopping board for white background, put a cushion over it for the black background.
The board is supported by some pasta and toothpaste...my sister wasn't willling to hold it!
I used a large cup full to the brim with the liquid, on a plate for the spill over.
I used a jug with some of the liquid in it, and used the straw for the drops, by placing it in the liquid and covering the otherend with my thumb.

Camera Settings
I had the camera set to manual, and used my on-board flash. I set the camera on a tripod.
I manual focused the lens, in roughly the area I wanted in focus.
I had a long-ish shutter speed and a narrow aperture. The flash freezed the action

You have to be pretty patience, I had way more duds then successsful shots. Timing is key!

There are other techniques, but this is how I did it. I hope this helps
