Default Straight from my backyard

Hi everyone,

These were taken Tuesday morning around 7:00am. Opened the patio door, took 2 steps on the deck, then started to capture the moment

There was actually 2 male and a femelle. I wasn't able to capture the femelle properly. She ran too fast and I didn't not have enought light. Even these are taken at ISO 1600...

Enjoy !

Intersting, never heard the word whitetail before to describe a deer. It's actually a very common word to describe that brand on google.

Thanks for the knowledge

Yeah, Whitetail are the most common species of Deer in the US. And that's what some folks call all deer. But we have Mule Deer, Blacktail, even a little tiny Sitka deer on the Mid-Atlantic Coast.

Anyone know of others?

BTW, really nice captures there...

You're welcome, whitetail is just a way to differentiate this species from the rest of the deer around and that name is way older than google.

Add in Elk, Moose, Caribou, and some exotics floating around you have them covered. The are all part of the deer family. Now if you want to get into all the variants within the group it gets really complicated as there is around seventeen species of whitetails in the U.S. and Canada with some more scattered in other countries.

Bottom line a very nice shot of a Odocoileus virginianus borealis or Northern Whitetail Deer or just plain deer.
