Default Remembering Our Beloved Pets...in a Happy Light!!

I've noticed recently a few of our member's pets have passed. For that, I am very sad.

However, I would like you to share and remember our beloved pets that have passed on, in a...Happy Light!! Please post a loved one---cat, dog, bird...or a cricket, if you so choose. Every pet I've ever loved had something quirky about them that always made me smile, or say, "What a goofy dog!!" Of course, as big a dork as I am, it's not surprising that I had some real whack-job pets!!!

Along with the picture, please tell us a little about what made your pet special or unique...what makes you laugh about him or her when you think back and miss them! Every dog or cat I ever met had some quirkiness about them.

What funny quirks did yours have?

Please let this be a happy thread. If you'd like to post condolences to the members, instead please send them via PM.

I'll start the thread with Belle!! She was the greatest dog...at least we think she was a dog. I'm not sure what she thought she was, but if I had to guess, it was a Ferrari! Her legs were only about 6 inches long, but she looked like an Enzo when she ran...but in first gear! High revs, and getting nowhere fast!!

She really loved our 3 kids, and protected them like they were her own!!

I give you, Belle...the sweetest dog who ever owned me!

Thanks for looking!!

Default Our Ayrez!

A pic of our best friend Ayrez or who my son called "Mama Lu" No one could have asked for a better pet! She was very loving and protective. Her quirk was that she thought she was a 5 pound Poodle cuddling up on you lap, instead of a 110 pound Rottweiler!!

This is Levi Strauss...we only had him for two weeks, but in that time he gave us more joy than many dogs in a lifetime...whenever you reached down to pat him he would roll over on his back and wiggle back and forth. He was constantly making us laugh....

My old dog had so many quirks, it's unbelieveable. He was a Jack Russell, called "Russell" (in my defence, that was his name when I rescued him!) - I had him for 7 years & I estimated he was about 15 when he died in 2001.

He loved to be with me at all times, & suffered separation anxiety when he was alone. At that time I was working as a large animal veterinarian so spent most of my days driving around farms and stables etc - this was ideal since it allowed me to throw him in the passenger seat of my car & we'd spend the days driving around together. He loved it - he'd just curl up on his blanket & when I left the car when we got to farms etc, he knew I was coming back, he was fine on his own then, and would just occasionally raid my cookie stash to get his "fix". The car became his safe haven, even if I wasn't in it with him, but he'd cry when left home alone. So, to combat his stress, if I was disappearing out for an hour or so in the evening, I would just pop him in the car when the weather was good - he was perfectly happy in there & always just curled up asleep, yet would cause chaos in my apartment if alone, barking, crying etc.

Anyway, one particular evening I was out drinking with a group of friends - one of them was staying at my place. Long story short, we got separated, he had my keys, I ended up staying at another friend's place & going back to mine next morning since I couldn't get in touch with my friend who'd gone MIA.

Turned out he'd gone back to my place (because he had my keys!). In the meantime I was panicking about Russ - he's in the car, remember? But my friend had no idea the pooch was in the car outside. Anyway, when I arrived back home next morning, I went to get my car keys from my friend in my apartment, & went to fetch Russ - he was still curled up on the passenger seat, sleeping like a baby. He looked very disgruntled when I dragged him out of his slumber, about 10 hours after he'd been put in there!

I had been worried about him being in the car for so long, but I don't actually think he'd even moved from when I popped him in the car the night before!

Nice thread ...
Here is my dog "Jag" Bred as "Wombarra Bitta Rebel"
I could never have wanted a more loyal dog, He just lived for his Kong toy even during his last days he would always have it nearby. I had to use it to keep his interest for this picture

Isn't it funny how there's an inverse relationship in almost all large dogs...the bigger they are...the smaller they are!!! Thanks for sharing Mama Lu!!

Great story, Nicky!!! He really trusted you, his friend and life partner!!! I can imagine the look on his face..."You better feed me steak tonight!!!" Love it!!
Thanks!

Great idea Jim.

This is Mina, our long coat German Shepherd. She was a valued member of the family for 13 years. One of her quirks as you can see here was that she loved water and would go out of her way to get wet. I used to take her fishing with me when shew was younger. Her habit of jumping in kept scaring the fish. Oh well, I wouldn't trade those memories for anything.
