Default Another tribute to our military

I didn't want to hijack Duane's thread, but I'd like to add some pictorial tributes to all those who serve, have served, and to the heroes who we've sadly lost. And let's not forget their families. Thank you.

I volunteer with the USO, & at a recent Army Yellow Ribbon event in the summer, Sam was proud to let me take a snapshot of him!

I visited USS Slater in Albany, NY in the summer too, & Tom, our animated Navy vet was a hoot showing us around!

I also have to apologize for committing a DPS sin of 2 threads in 24 hours. I'm hoping the powers-that-be will give me a free pass just once for prior good behavior :-)

These are great shots. You really captured the personality of your tour guide on the Slater and the last shot is really moving. Thanks for volunteering with the USO, I remember travelling with my husband and finding the USO lounges in airports being a cushy retreat filled with the nicest volunteers.

Those are wonderful images, Nicky. I think it is so important to record our older veterans, especially, because there are fewer and fewer of them every day. And I really like the reflection in the memorial wall. It somehow makes it more poignant.

Love your last shot, Nicky. The reflection is magnificent. Thanks for volunteering with the USO. I can remember having a meal or two (and some company) at the USO when I first arrived at Ft Bliss in El Paso, 40 years ago this past September.
