Default For you fellow aviation enthusiasts...

Here are few pics of my favorite airplane on earth....

It's the P-51C, Betty Jane! If this plane and I were in Kentucky, we could get married, right, Patrick??? LOL

I won't bore you with the history of this aircraft, but if you so desire, you can read more here: P-51 Mustang Survivors: " Betty Jane " , N251MX - serial #: 42-103293 Sights, Sounds, History.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of—wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air....

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark nor even eagle flew—
And, while with silent lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

...as a grown man, having slipped the surly bonds of earth under my own control, this still makes my eyes water.

all super pictures!! That wing looks as though it's 50 feet long shot from that perspective! The first shot is so picture perfect....it's one gleaming machine with a glorious paint job......

P-51 a great plane made better still by the use of the SPitfire's engine giving it the performance it deserved and in doing so sealing it as one of the world's best fighter aircraft has a very distinctive sound when passing at speed a whistle due to the air passing over/through the gun barrels and of course the engine note that makes anyone with petrol in their veins weak at the knees!

Great set on of my fave planes juuuust out of top spot cos I love the Spitfire a bit more

Fog...you read my mind. That RR Merlin engine is one of the world's most recognizable sounds...even to the lay-person. I, too, have an affinity for the Spitfire. Unfortunately, I haven't had the good fortune to see too many of them here in the states. Thanks for that visual fly-over!!

Hi Jim. Yes, she sure looks like the kind of lady you could easily fall in love with at first sight. Thanks for the great pics, and the "John Gillespie Magee", which reminds me of my English Literature studies 100 years ago. Cheers mate. PAUL

Those photos deserve a comment rather than just a browse.

Great shots I love them.

Cheers,
