Default My Wife, and a Leaf for Jennie

My wife, Mary, is reluctant to get her photo taken most of the time, and yesterday was no different. She did accept eventually, and I think it is a good portrait, although she says she looks sad. I think she looks thoughtful/ reflective. The leaf is for Jennie, because, as we all know, she likes them. I the in the building and the salt n pepper shakers for the heck of it! Actually, I liked the lighting on the shakers, and I shot the building while Mary was looking in a gift shop on Fort Langley. I liked the colours and geometric shapes created by the colours, door, and window. Thanks for visiting.

I think she looks thoughtful - pondering.
I particularly like the leaf on the fence.

The portrait of Mary is lovely! I agree that she looks thoughtful too, not sad. I'm sure Jennie will love her leaf - it looks like it's hanging on for dear life to the last bit of autumn! Nice and crisp. I love the multi-coloured building too, you know how much I love colours! The salt & pepper shakers just made me laugh!

Wow! Great shots, Paul! A wonderful selection! She does look deep in thought...very stoic. Great cap! I love the leaf shot...so will Jennie! Excellent DOF, composition, and exposure. Great contrasting colors in the garage...very artistic arrangement. And, like me, you seem to have an affinity for the ordinary as well in the SnP shakers! Great lighting and excellent use of thirds! One of the better sets of unrelated pics I've seen. Each one could be an example of of "how to do it right!"

Thanks for sharing.

Jim

PS..what are you going to do for an encore, since you're coming up on 1K???

Hey Nicky. I am glad you saw the humour in the salt n peppa shakers, as well as enjoyed the others. I strategically ordered these so as to have people say, "Hey, what the..." at the end. This was an eclectic, but fun set to put together.

Thanks Jim. Coming from you I feel honoured. As I mentioned to Nicky, it was a fun set to post, and I tend to like posting variation instead of thematic. I think it stirs the brain of the viewer. As for my encore, well, I am going to Vancouver Island in a couple of days, and so I will have to see what the weather is like etc, and hope that I can get some stunning shots. We will be on the west coast of the island, which is totally open to the Pacific Ocean, so hopefully some dynamic surf shots and landscapes, as well as people shots. Time will tell, but I admit, I have been thinking the same thing, and I want to post some exceptional shots for my 100th. Thanks for your time, Jim. take care.

Thanks alkaline. I am like Jennie, and have an affinity with leaves, but mainly fall leaves.

Hi Jennie. Glad you liked the leaf shot. I thought is was composed well too, and played around with various leaves (if I was a leaf, I am sure all the other leaves would think I am promiscuous! LOL!!!), ended up going with this one based on my intuition, and Steve's comment on my flickr. He thought it was the strongest shot as well. Cheers, girl!

I've been married way to long to weigh in on the sad/thoughtful debate, but the portrait is very well done. Excellent set, Paul and I'll have to say I like the highlights on the chain link fence which really set off the leaf. Enjoyable!
