Default My first flower macros with water drops

...I submit these to you, my DPS friends and family. I'm having to capitalize being up here in Northern California, instead of the monochrome world of the desert I live in! These were in the garden of the hotel I'm staying at, and were just watered. I almost walked right by, but the rising sun reflected in the water drops just right...almost as if to say..."Pssst....here we are!" in the quietest of whispers. Here is the result of an almost missed opportunity...(Nikkor 105mm 2.8 with SB-900 bounced off the white reflector plate)

3 Friends
_3 Friends

Purple Rain (I loved how the petal veins were magnified in the drop)
_purple rain

Don't pick me...
_violet rain

Pink Retreat
_pink bud

These are the most organic pics I've posted. These are exactly as they came out of the camera except the crop for effect.

Thanks for looking.

Jim

damn, that 2nd shot is totally awesome.....am curious as to what that setup looked like with the reflector...was the camera on a tripod, the flash swiveled, and the reflector in hand? My guess anyways...I don't have an off camera flash yet.....I hear that my uncle has mailed his OLD nikkor 105 mm to me for keeps....yea!!!!!! It has no contacts so I'll have to learn to meter this thing completely manually......watching for the mailman!

All of these are great. Definitely should be processed and hung on the wall.

Holy organics! How beautiful are those water drop shots? You just know I'll love the colors here, and the 2nd is my absolute fave. :-) I've not advanced to any macro photography ever yet. (Heck, I've only just stopped using an abacus........). But I'm considering asking Father Christmas for a macro lens.....

Great Captures Jim! I like the 2nd one best, But all are top notch! That's a sweet little lens you got there! I'll have the "L" series equivalant next week. I hope it as crisp as you Nikor!
Thanks for sharing these
Michael.

Thanks, Patrick! The SB-900 was ON the camera, flipped up 45 degrees, diffuser in place, and the white card sticking out to reflect. You're gonna love that 105 (micro?) I'm sure with your talent, you'll have the metering mastered in no time!!
