...I got so flippin' bored with Diz's 'boring' thread (a credit to Mike...good form, sir!!!), I had to something non-boring. I missed the sunset here in Sacramento, so I took a stroll around the hotel's lake/pond, complete with a fountain. There was a lot of background lighting which, I thought would make some good bokeh, if I could capture it with the slow sync flash. Basically, slow-sync flash allows you to capture the objects within flash range, but leave the shutter open slightly longer (after the flash) so the ambient light can come to the party too!
Here are the results. The first one is a nice green tree, with the haloed moon in the background. I didn't have a tripod, so there's some blur. The second is the dimly lit fountain in the background. Spur of the moment, shootin' from the hip kinda stuff!! ![]()

You got a nice bokeh for the second shot. I tried slow sync when I first got my flash. Got some nice and al lot of wierd but fun effect out of it, thanks to Zue. She was doing all the motions for my experiments for that night. LOL

Great shots Jim. I like No2 and I learned something new in the process. You always have something to say that inspires or informs, and of course, entertains at times!!! Thanks my friend. PAUL

Those are great! Very unboring
I love the first one - the colors and the effect are really unusual looking. And you got nice bokeh in the second one. But I thought we were promoting hydro-bokeh?

I never knew what slow sync flash was all about. Now I know. Thanks for the post, Jim.
