Default Bonsai and Art Stone

Happy Thursday guys. I'd like to share with you today, some shots taken at the 'Malaysia Art Stone and Bonsai Exhibition & Competition 2009'.

For those of you who don't know what 'Bonsai' is, it originates from Japan or China, I think.
'Bonsai', literally translate as 'tree-in-a-tray'. It is the art of aesthetic miniaturization of trees (According to an expert from Wikipedia University).

Bonsai 001

Bonsai 002

Bonsai 003

Art Stone 001

A few years back, I surprised my friends when I got myself a bonsai tree. However, they were NOT surprised when it died a few weeks later. I kept forgetting to water the darn thing. LOL

Note: I had to do some background removal in these shots because it was very distracting, and it might have lost some details in the processed.

Hi Sparda! i love bonsai trees..or anything to do with Japanese culture for that matter..(i have images of Mr. Miyagi swimming in my brain right now..as a feelow fan of Karate Kid..you do get what i mean dont you? lol..) you have a great set here..the lighting is good and the background really showed the details of your subjects..

i think bonsai trees does not need that much water but only constant moisture and it thrives in cooler climate coz it can easily dry up..on the other hand, if you completely forgot to water it..you only have yourself to blame..lol.. just kidding..but better keep the art stone..it doesnt need watering..haha..

tnx for sharing..

Gorgeous shots, Sparda! I really like how you used the lighting to vanish the background. The trees are beautiful! We, too, had a 75-year old Bansai...it lasted 6 months in our house....AND we watered it!

Thanks for sharing these beauties!

These are Great shots! Bonsai is a wonderful art form, unfortunatly like you I manage to kill them soon after I get them. I see them for sale along the roads here in South Korea, but they take a lot of love and care. I'm good at most plants, but no so much with the Bonsai's
Thanks for sharing these
Michael.

Ha ha ha... Would you be surprised if I say I've managed to kill a rock under my care?

LOL.. Actually I'm taking about 'live rocks'. Ya know, the one under from the oceans. I bought it for my marine aquarium. Unfortunately the aquarium set-up was an accident waiting to happen. Long story short, everything in it died, including the 'live rocks'. It makes you think twice about the phrase 'ROCK NEVER DIES'. LOL

Thanks Jim. The above shots are from a section of the exhibition only. The other sections were under dim lighting, and have backgrounds that will take hours of pain to remove them.
