I had a day home from work today (suffering from a spring cold), so I took my camera and wandered out into the garden. We have had a spell of warm weather here the last few days and my roses have all blown open. This ordinarily would have disappointed me, as I like to photograph the unfolding buds - BUT - I want to try new angles on my photography - SO I put my camera right into the centres, and I below I have given you some of the results.
Taken on my Canon Power Shot Pro1, set to Supa Macro. Hand held. Slight adjustments in Photshop Elements - slight levels adjustment, cloned out a few dirty marks, slight Sharp Unmask (which I must say is the first time I have ever used this feature and using it slightly has improved the shots I think) - maybe it is ok to fiddle a little bit sometimes? I hope you enjoy them, and I would welcome your comments about these - do you think they work? Thanks everyone, I look forward to hearing from you. I must say this red one looked a bit better full size than it does here...........

The 3rd one is my pick from your set, I like the composition and love the colors and clarity.
Thanks for sharing these Michael.

thanks everyone for your comments on my new pics. I appreciate you posting.
It was certainly nice plodding around with my camera today, and taking advantage of time to myself - even though I didn't feel that flash it was nice to be out in the sun having a play and the photos brightened up my afternoon, which I hope they are doing for you all too.

Those are all really a really unique perspective on flowers. I like the composition on the second one the best.

I am actually wondering if the colour in first one is a little too startling. What do you think? However that is how it came out of the camera. I haven't touched up the colour at all. I think I might go back into photoshop and try and tone it down a bit. But not tonight.

Jill all of these are nice. I like your third one the best because of the light. It has a wider range of light, which brings out the details in the petals. While your first one is good, I don't think it's as good as the rest because it has the least amount of details. Others may like your first for just that reason. Anyway, that's my two cents. I love roses and you've done very well with these.
