Default Thankfulness

Took a short cut through Herods Farm near my home and came across this old cutter, and the thoughts came streaming out.

Thankfulness

What man trod grass behind this gear
From June through late September?
His name now carved in weathered stone,
His labours unremembered.

It’s wheels won’t turn.
It’s brakes won’t brake.
The gears will grind no more.
But the stream still glides, the gales still howl,
And grain still fills the store.

Grim reaper

Grass cutter brake

Great post, Paul! I like the prose as well. Is that your composition?
The pics are gorgeous...I love the weathered, rusty look. I bet these would look good in b/w.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Jim. Yes, all my words. I'll have a go at B&W. Never done that before. Watch out. PAUL

Those are lovely - the pictures and the words. I can't decide whether I prefer the color or the b/w.

Thanks Martha. I prefer the colour myself, but at least I learned something new today. PAUL
