It looks like the toes of Treebeard. And the toes are digging in while those leaves are rising up and taking over But they will fail because the roots, though grey are permanent while the leaves though mobile and colourgful are transient. Hooray for boring but stable? ;-

Lovely set of autumn photos.
The way the tree frames the first one is cleaver, nice to see the park in your part of the world. The roots in the third one looks like toes clawing at the ground and of course, the fourth one with the squirrel is very endearing. |
