Default Jack o' Lantern

The Wife and I carved a pumpkin the other day. I decided to take a few pictures. I used a mini slave flash inside the Jack and a DF-383 tethered to the camera slightly behind and above Jack's face to fire the mini slave. If you think of a change that might have made it better then let me know.

I put it on facebook the night that I took it and got compliments from friends about it but they don't do photography. Hearing that someone, that takes great pictures, that it rocks makes me feel that I did the subject some justice. Thanks.

Nice! I love the perspective. I just took some shots of my children's jack-o-lanterns, but now I'm embarrassed to show them. LOL!

Martha thank you. If we don't get critiques on our work then we will not be able to improve. In all honesty I had to take over a dozen shots to get this one. A couple were out of focus, some the flash inside Jack didn't fire, one the camera tilted forward and only caught the mouth and nose, and the first one I hit the shutter release before the flash had charged so it was completely dark. I just showed one of the better ones here. Oh yeah I have also found out that I am usually one of my most intense critics, and I think that most others are the same way.

All in all I say post some of them and get another point of view or go back and take them again then show them.

I tried it again this time with a spray bottle set to mist. Let me know which looks better. I did this one mainly to get the light shooting out of the eyes and mouth of Jack.

Wow Halloween ended and no one cares about pictures of Jack 'o Lanterns anymore. Just trying to bring the comparison to the top of the list again.
