Default Portrait of an old friend

This is the camera that got me started a long time ago. I put her away in a closet for a while and almost forgot about her. I thought after I had my daughter I may never pick her up again, and tried to give her away a couple of times. Each time she somehow made it back into my closet unscathed. A little beat up from use, dust from the closet- she's a great friend indeed!

22/365 portrait of an old friend

Thank you and Enjoy!!

Oh, that's great! Funny you posted it - I recently got some ektachrome and have been thinking about digging out my old Nikon EM

I know! I just went and bought her some b/w film. (I think, I did buy it at a Japanese camera store) I can't wait to see her perform again.

Awesome! I really think shooting digital has made me a better photographer all around, and I can't wait to try some of my techniques with film.

You gotta go back sometimes! Glad to see her! My boys are getting into digital. However, before they get too spoiled, I've outfitted them with a circa 50s SLR, Nikkorex, completely manual. If they can prove themselves using 35mm and take heed of my advice on how to use the features manually (shutter speed, f-stop, EV properly, I've agreed to get them each a D40 for Xmas.

Thanks for the retrospect!

I agree. I intend on getting away from all the auto. My Pentax is completely manual and I think in the spirit of my latest project (365) I'm going to shoot my up coming week in all manual just to give me a new appreciation for where I started, and for the technology that has lead up to the awesome cameras that we have now. You're a great dad to hand over such wonderful cameras to your boys.

Definitely film! It's a Pentax P30. It was actually given to me by my friend. He was cleaning out a closet at his work and found this brand new. (He was a journalist in the Navy) I just happened to be there and he asked me if I wanted it. I said sure why not. That was all she wrote. I think it is good to go back to where you started every once in a while just to give you a better perspective of what you have now. I'm telling you if I started on just digital I would never have any respect for a film camera.
